The Oxford Reference Library of the English Language (8 Volume set) Published by Franklin Library Franklin Center, PA 1979.This magnificent set is number 2468 of an announced edition of 7500, (639) but it is possible that fewer were printed, because advance orders were taken; although uniform in style, color and decoration, the volumes of this set are actually four different sizes, as follows: Oxford Modern English Usage, 12mo; Oxford Companion to American Literature, Oxford Companion to English Literature, and Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, 4to; Oxford Book of American Verse and Oxford Book of English Verse, 8vo; Compact Edition of Oxford English Dictionary (2 volumes) are just barely folio, at 12-1/8"e; tall; black full leather boards and spines, 22k gilt decoration and lettering, all edges gilt, silk moire endpapers, blue silk marker ribbons in each volume, set takes almost 20"e; of shelf space; original wooden shelf, and original magnifying glass which accompanied the set.
